Wilderness Ventures - adventure camp

Wilderness Ventures is a wilderness travel program for student ages 12-20 years old.  2012 will mark our 40th summer in operation and we are still owned and directed by the founders of the program, Mike and Helen Cottingham.  We operate in the western U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, Central and South America, Europe and the South Pacific.  Leaders and students will travel together from one wilderness area and activity to the next on adventures lasting from 16 days to 6 weeks.  Activities include backpacking, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, mountaineering, snow and ice climbing, canoeing, sea and river kayaking, mountain biking, service projects, sailing, snorkeling, surfing and SCUBA diving.  Leaders are responsible for teaching outdoor skills, minimum impact camping, environmental awareness, outdoor education, and leadership as well as fostering a sense of community and facilitating a positive group dynamic.  Leaders must be 20 years of age, possess solid outdoor skills, have proven successful leadership experience and most importantly, a desire to work with youth in amazing outdoor settings!
